Jerry:

My rough tape measurements says it's a very tight fit (fan rests inside the W300 radiator), but someone else (don't know who) says he can get the Cummins BT6 crammed into the engine compartment. Problem #2 is the Dana 70 axle ratio: 4.88's won't get you much top end speed with a low revving diesel. An overdrive transmission helps a bit, but you'd really want something like a 3.54 axle ratio with a diesel. The Dana 70 axles changed their "pumpkin" housings at the 4.56 gear ratio, so you'd have to get two Dana 70 axles with an original gear ratio below 4.56 and put their housings in the W300 axles assemblies to use a gear ratio below 4.56. Or, you could swap out the Dana 70's for some modern 4X4 diesel truck axles, then redo the steering, etc. Seems like an awful lot of work when you could just buy a mid 1990's TCD Dodge truck. My $ .02.
