Like was said, it depends a lot on what year and model your working on. Is your project a '40s truck Gordon? I'd like to hear more about these conversion projects as they progress.

I'm working on a '46 1-ton 2wd...ok I'll admit it's just sitting in a snowbank with most my other junk...my plan is just as you described above, using a t-case, font drive-line, and front axle from a 1/2 ton WC. I'll have to make up a rear drive-line as the the 1-ton is longer than a WC. The rear axle appears to be identical and the gearing is the same. I'm really looking foward to putting this truck together as it has a Spitfire engine. I think It will be exactly as strong as a WC, except for the slightly longer wheelbase. It will be lighter than a PW, but that has its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

What I don't know is if the stock fenders will provide enough clearance for 38" tires. I'm figuring on a slight body lift anyway, but I might have to use some parts from a 1 1/2 ton up front.
