The best small skidder out there is a John Deere 440B. 440A's are a good machine also, if you can find one.I have a 540B and a 640B,J D. They are worked hard every day and hold up very well.Stay away from a gas skidder.The JD's have automatic trannys with 8+ gear options.I can pull more than the other brands while burning less fuel.The planteries on a JD are inboarard,less stress and stronger, instead of out past the wheels like on a timber jack If you are into high production logging get a John Deere.If you are working it weekends around the farm Most any skidder will work
