Get a rectangular-shaped stone, that has a coarse side, and a fine side. Use a little 3-in-1 oil on the stone, and use a steady motion first on the coarse side, then finish up with the fine. (The stone is stationary, and you move the blade across it, away from you, with the cutting edge facing you) Do both sides of the blade, alternately. You have to keep the blade at just the correct angle, and use a steady wiping motion across the stone. Try to imitate the angle of the edge that was there when the blade was new. It takes practice, like any of the old manual skills. In a pinch, a fine metal-cutting file will work, too. Hope this helps.
