Can't comment on the 3000 cfm, but I think I can explain your other question.

If redline is 9500 rpm, the engine spins 158.33 times per second.

Multiply 158.33 by the run time of 4.5 seconds and you get 712 revolutions of the engine from the time the car leaves the starting line till it crosses the finish line.

Give the engine a little time to get up to speed from the start, or a dip in RPMs when they dump the clutch and I can see 540.

Pretty freaking amazing if you ask me.
