I just installed a ceiling mounted Modine propane hot air heater. It works great, clean with no smell. My garage is 1500 sq ft. The heater is rated at 125,000 BTU. Modine does sell a smaller residential size unit. Ceiling mount is nice because it doesn't take up any valuable floor space.
