Yup. As much as I love my 59 W200, without a lot of modifications it just does not meet modern standards for drivability. And if I were to update it to modern standards, then I would no longer have a real 59, would I?
I put about 50,000 miles on one of those S(tupid) U(gly) V(ehicles) every year and wouldn't drive anything else (2000 Jeep Wrangler at present).
Like it or not, modern vehicles are marvels of engineering and design. They are comfortable to drive and a lot safer than older vehicles. They require less attention and with minimal maintenace are capable of 200,000+ miles with few or no problems.
