Years ago, northern North Dakota (Williston... Alaska has NOTHING on Williston, ND...) frost plug heaters were worthless. They only heat the block right around it. Even the oil dipsticks that you plug in over night to keep the oil from freezing barley held their own. The BEST engine heater is the lower radiator hose heater. This is plugged in and not only heats the water but uses a little motor to cirulate the hot water throughout the block all night long. This was the only thing worth plugging in at night (if I told you some nights were negative triple-digits no one would believe me... but I kept certain newpapers to prove it!). HOWEVER... these have a heater and motor in them, your electric bill will reflect that you have something else plugged in!!
