My favorite tree story is a hedge (osage orange) post that a fella put up because drunks were constantly taking out his fence line. The county made him take it out, though. It was too strong. Some guy left the bar down the road, missed the curve, and then totaled his truck on the post. The post didn't break.
That wood is so hard that if you cut it at night with a chain saw, you will see sparks. Chains won't last too long, either.
