Happy New Years, Joe!
It depends upon what you are going to use it for. The positive DeWalt comments below are right on. My crews and myself, all use DeWalt keyless drills, both cordless and corded. If maintained properly (ie: oiled on a regular basis) the keyless chucks work great, save time and increase productivity. If not maintained, they gaul, slip and are hard to losen and tighten. I love my quik-cord Milwaulkee drills, Holehawgs, angle drill and Hole shooters, I've had some of them for over 30 years. But for mass production, the DeWalts are quicker. If you are just tinking around in your garage, or working on your home projects where speed is not a concern the Milwaulkees are good, but irritating when it comes to changing bits or tasks, since most folks will have only one drill. I have used three Milwaulkees, each with a different bit and one hole shooter, to accomplish one task, so that I don't waste time countersinking, changing bits, drilling, changing bits, then setting a fastener. With a DeWalt keyless and quick-change bit holder, it is a snap. I've used the cordless 18v DeWalts for 5 years now, the new NiCad 18v battery is the way to go. (Eric, they now make that 18v impact also!)
If using a drill press, I'd stay with the keyed chuck, as Jacobs hasn't seemed to get that application perfected yet.
