I hope Dan's right. I had bought a rig one time that had a cobbled-together pto drive-shaft with square-headed set screws, not a through-pin, on the yokes. They would hold until under a load.
Guess I didn't understand that part about leaving it in "forward to wind it back in...do you mean you just have one direction on the pto?
Got the winch section copied, only about six pages but there's a good exploded view. I'm NE of White Salmon, across the river from Hood River. I'll be going to Portland sometime this week, not sure which day yet.
