It is the rare keyless chuck that works well most of the time. There are keyless chucks also used on machine tools. They don't always work well, either. I would take a keyed chuck ANY day. I have some Milwaukee drills that were available either way. Mine are keyed chucks. Even the people at the local contractor supply house that sells Milwaukee said don't get the keyless chucks.
