Hi RD,
gm called their utility beds, step side, their smoothside beds are fleetsides.
Dodge has always called their utility beds, Utiline. A Sweptline is an Era, from '61 to '71. You can have a Utiline bed on a Sweptline truck. More confusingly a Sweptside Dodge ('58 to '60 Power Giants)were built around a utiline bed! I defer to Chris on that one!
I consider a PW bed to be a Utiline bed, as Dodge called it. I imagine former gm drivers and car salesmen who once worked at ferd or gm dealerships started calling them stepsides when talking to the public, that started the confusion.
Those aren't steps on a Utiline, they are running boards! ha!ha!
