Ken, I've lived here(Emmett) all my life(43 years)and more often than not, we have an open Christmas. I must add that the weather patterns are a little different in Emmett than in Wendell but this is considered high desert ie. cold and dry. One more nice thing about living here is when we get a thermal inversion, where the air stops mixing and it becomes colder at ground level and warmer up higher in the atmosphere. I work at the local ski area out of Boise and many times it is colder in Boise than at the ski hill, a difference of some 3000 feet in elevation. The last two years we have had a hard time making any cash flow at the ski hill because of high temps and low precip! Another nice thing about the area is when we have cattle we have many open winter days when we don't have to put out feed, as long as you have enough pasture(which is vanishing fast under houses). P.D.H.
