Aside from working on my Dodge and other
WW2 trucks, I also re-enact WW2.
Great way to use our ww2 trucks!

Anyway, in the course of doing these outings/public shows and displays, we always attract and get to talk with old veterns, the very men we honor and are trying to imitate the best we can.

I love talking to them. Sometimes, they just want to look you over and remeber the uniform. SOemtimes they just reach out and touch the fabric to remeber the wool uniform feel of the "old" days.
Sor sometimes they just want to talk and tell you what they did. Or sometimes they dont tell you anything, but just say thanks for remembering what we did.

I cant help but feel good knowing I am doing something, as little as it is, to help show my appreciation.

With that said, we have our share of "bone heads" out their re-enacting for the wrong reasons.

Here this one: At a past parade, I was listening to this WW2 Vet telling another re-enactor that the gear he wore durin the war was this or that. He was just commenting on what he wore, not telling the re-enactor his stuff was incorrect or anything like that.

This stupid re-enactor was arguing with the Veteran that he was all wrong, and it couldnt be possible that he, the very WW2 veteran, couldnt have worn that.He is wrong, and the re-enactor was right!

Talk about closed eared people to the experience of the learned and wise.
