In the last forum I described how an ebay PW was sniped from under me, a loser. Later that week I'm at work talking with someone and I remember months ago someone else told me about a PW soon to be available. She was from the town, I asked if she new about it. The next day she comes back with a name and a number. I call, go see the truck, and mail in a bid. I check back and they say it's yours Ken, you won! A winner! But - but first we want to put it on ebay. I scream nnnnnoooooo!!!!!!! not ebay. So now I'm a loser again, without even bidding because I believe no way I would win this truck on ebay. So I mail in another bid, maybe they'll reconsider. Then after moral support from Bob Thompson who pointed out they can't let you win and lose the same auction suggested I start looking into some sort of remedy. About 5 calls later between the state of CT (who handed auction oversight to local jurisdictions) and the local jurisdiction, I'm referred to the town selectman. Guess who answers the phone, the auction guy. This is Mayberry USA I'm dealing with. After some polite conversation, I come to realize this was not an auction at all but simply a private sale with a best offer type of deal. So ok, I'll wait for ebay thinking if it does show up there maybe I could complain to ebay and their avoidance of controversy policy would have them delist it and I would win that way. But later in the day I guess my second bid showed up at the firehouse and the chief decided to make me a winner once again and called to say I won, again. Trouble was he called home, my son answered, and the chief told him. He calls me and says Dad, some guy just called to say you bought another Power Wagon, what's that all about? Busted. Maureen knew so it wasn't that bad. So why did I buy it? Because it was there? That's sort of how it goes with Power Wagons. 1948 B1. Not a pristine firehouse truck, they were 3rd owners, but decent. I asked if he knew what happened to the bed. He said they buried it behind the firehouse in 1968, replaced by an 830 gal aluminum tank that's still on it. Jarbridge?
