At the time these were used we still had the M-37 which was refered to as 3/4 and the term 5/4 was used to tell the difference, as most of the 1/4 were refered to as a jeep (yes I know the M-151 was a ford) the 5/4 was also made by jeep at the time just cut down on the confusion and let them know what you wanted. Bigger was duce and a half (2 1/2 ton) or a 5 ton.
