Having hauled loads in my dumpbox I'd say a 2 yard box is plenty big enough to bring a truck to it's knees. I've got a 1.5yd box and that's not including the 2x6 sideboards. my engine has 32,000 miles on it, starts and runs real nice but when I add a yard of crushed rock (2,500lbs) the truck sees a hill long before I do. The truck weighs 1000lbs more with the dump set-up than it did with the pick-up box so my load capacity is 2,500 if I go by the 8,700gvw rating. I do have the 10 ply tires so I guess 9,500 is the recommended gvw. I've got 5.83 gears and can't imagine 4.89s being any use at all. I've also thought about duals but the outer tire would hang out too far past the edge of the box using the 900-16. If I had 4.89s then the 750-16 dual would be the ticket for looks and stability. The only way I see to run a winch/hoist pump/rear belt pulley would be to run the hoist pump from a pto on the right side of the trans, it would have to be a direct coulped pto/pump to make it work being it would be really hard to run a shaft under the transfer case to a remote hoist pump. My truck isn't restored, the paint was done about 15 years ago and I'm hoping to keep up with normal age related repairs as necessary.
