Hi,
The Franz Oil Filter Company is still in bussiness and you can still order the origonal toilet paper filters that are made for the filter and will not disinigrate.
I have a 51 plymouth that came with one of these and I did some research on the filter and found that they are incredible, there are stories of people with 800,000 miles with little wear. I know it sounds like hype but I took the pan off of my 50 year old flathead and it looked like new in there. I have since put 10,000 miles on the un-rebuilt engine and it runs perfect.
Just a thought. I don't have the phone number for them on me but email if you want the contact information, its about $2 a filter.
Drew
