What do you use for oil filtration?

I am getting ready to start my new engine, but can not put on the old toilet paper aftermarket oil filter again. I don't think you can still get rough enough paper these days to allow any oil to pass without desintegrating the paper anyway. A spin-on upgrade seems too modified. What should I do?? What are you using? I put about a thousand miles a year on this rig, so should I just change the oil real frequently?
