The truck is in a configuration that was not available from Dodge in 1947. Does that impact it's value, yes. However, just as you said, you wanted one of these trucks and don't have the facilities to restore one so you took the leap. I think that you should drive and enjoy this truck and for that purpose, only you can judge the value.
It is true that vehicles in original condition have much better resalability and hold their value better, but you bought it to drive, not resell for a profit, right?
I think that it is a neat truck.
