When Dodge was coming up with the Design to Civilianize the WWII WC 3/4 ton trucks, they Struggled over what to call it. The truck had so many uses and was very versatile, that alot of names fit. The Truck was going to marketed heavily as a farm truck, and at first they had planned to call it Something like "Farm Utility Truck" Well, thats a good description, but it did not quite have the 'ring' to it that management had hoped. So...During that time in History, there was a Trade magazine for the Trucking industry, called "Power Wagon" Well management liked the suggestion, and thats what they decided to call their new Civilian 1 ton go anyware, do anything 4X4 truck, and the name stuck! All Dodge 4X4's from 45-80 Were called Power Wagon. THen from 80-93 Were called Power Ram. I like the sound of Power Wagon Much better tho.
