Read my response to Jason below. In CA you cannot install carbs or intakes that either were not offered stock from the factory, OR the parts must have C.A.R.B. approval certification numbers for use on THAT specific year vehicle and motor. That means running either Mopar Performance (many of which are NOT CA approved) or other equipment with CARB numbers, which also means very new parts for sale for your specific engine.
Look in the Jegs or Summit adds, MOST carbs and intakes, that produce power, specifically state in the add "Not approved for use in CA" or "For off-hiway use only in CA"
You will never pass smog without the C.A.R.B. number on any aftermarket parts. The state test is totally computerized, once the VIN is entered, the tech is given a readout showing every approved part on that year motor.
