If you have nothing better to do on the Saturday after
Black Friday, I am making a pilgrimmage to a warehouse which is chock full
of original WWII era parts and pieces. Almost all of it is aircraft stuff,
and the place is going to close soon, so this will be one of the last
opportunities to get your hands on some original WWII era items. I have
cleared it with the manager to have the place opened on Saturday, which
hasn't happened in quite a while. We are convoying there from the home base
of my endeavors, Essex Skypark, and meeting there at 0800 sharp. If you are
interested in tagging along, you are welcome. Here are the essentials:

1. We meet at Essex at 0800, and leave at 0900 to convoy about 30 minutes to
the location. If you are going to be late, don't ask for directions- I
can't give them, and getting there is quite complicated.
2. The stuff is buried under 40+ years of dust, and is absolutely dirty.
You will need very dirty clothes, and they will be un-recognizable as
garments when you are done. Coveralls are preferred. For those of us with
reactive airway disease, or asthma, this place is VERY dusty, so bring your
inhalers (seriously).
3. Stuff must be payed for in cash. Price is set by the warehouse manager,
not me. You pay him what he tells you. No cash, no goods. I'll repeat it-
If you don't have any green, legal US tender notes to pay for what you want,
you can't take the stuff with you. There are no checks, credit cards,
promissory notes, pesos, or wampum accepted. Their rules, not mine.
4. I recommend that you bring some form of conveyance to transport your
merchandise. There is one shopping cart which is usually reserved for my
use. I am bringing a platform cart and a hand truck for others to use. If
you want to BYO cart or conveyance, please do so.
5. There are bathrooms there, but I recommend bringing towels and hand
soap. I will have a few bars of ivory with me, but towels are on your own.
6. Please RSVP me, to let me know how many to tell the manager to expect.
Directions to Essex are on the site for Forgotten Field Aviation Technical
Center http://www.astory.com/forgottenfield
7. If you have any questions, email them early, and I will try to get word
out, but I work all day Thanksgiving, am working on other projects all day
and evening Friday, and probably won't get in touch with everybody.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, and hope to see you there!
