Don: The Watson by Brown-Lipe is a 3 speed auxilliary truck transmission. Ratios for model "41" (as opposed to model "M41", if there is any difference ??, but doubt it) are:

1st: 1.26 to 1 (underdrive)
2nd: 1.00 to 1
3rd: .83 to 1 (overdrive)

The underdrive gives 26% more power and the overdrive gives 20% faster road speed at any given engine rpm, which is also 17% less engine rpm at any given road speed.

The Watson "41" ratios are "progressive" so you should be able to shift right up the gears: 1st under, 1st even, 1st OD, 2nd under, etc. Model 41 is recommended for medium and heavy trucks in highway uses.
Other Watson models 42 to 48 have different ratios for different purposes (lower underdrives, wider gearing, models 47 & 48 have 2 underdrives and 3rd is 1:1). The model 41 seems the best Watson for general truck use and has an nice useful overdrive ratio. Hope this helps.

Fred C.
