When I did mine, I used black polyurethane caulk. This completly filled the voids, and I cant see any way moisture will get through. There are NO voids. The only drawback I can see is replacing the glass nest time. I imagine burning it out will be the solution. I would think felt would hold moisture in where you DONT want it.
