Engines

I have recently purchased a 1958 1\2 ton dodge pickup. It's a 2 wheel drive with a flathead six engine. I'm fairly sure that the truck was in a front end accident early on in it's life, and the engine was removed, and\or replaced. the engine drove fine for 4 months when i got it, but then broke the timing chain, sucked a couple valves, shattered the crankshaft, and blew a sizable hole out the side of the block. What I need to know is how to tell what size engine it is, and what year is was made.

To sum it up I need help to identify exactly what i have, and what is could possibly be worth. The engine is complete (broken of course, but complete) It has the origional generator, oil air filter, carb, water pump, tranny, and head still attached, and as far as i know still in working condition. Is any of this worth my time to strip and sell, or should i just sell it all to a scrap heap?

Any help, inquires, or suggestions would be appreciated. And if anyone is interested in any of the stuff I'm located in Southern CA.

Thanks a Bunch!!!
