Re: Previous Comments on Rocky Mountain Rendevous...

Frankly, I find all these comments a little puzzling: "hating to have to lockin your hubs", "old guys talking about Dodge trucks 24hrs a day", hey - that's what I LOVE about rallies... And the comment of "why don't they just pave those mountian roads" is laughable. If you don't want to engage your front differential, why are you even driving a Power Wagon? Ofcourse you're going to get "lousy gas mileage" - you're at 10,000' going UP a mountian incline.. Duh! Furthermore, many Americans actually think Ouray is a beautiful place! The reason its so rocky is because (hint:) you're in the Rocky Mountians! I'm sympathetic and very sorry you guys had a miserable time. But please consider this... Regardless of the weather or road conditions, we should celebrate all PW rallies. The rallies are like the families themselves, all have there own distinct personalities. Some perhaps, more fun than others, but all honest, family oriented events. I've not yet had the pleasure of attending the RM Rendezvous but if what you gentlemen say is true - than I can't wait to get there! Just depends on what your into I suppose. If you can do better, then please do so - try to create you own rally. If you do it, we will come. The Power Wagon "experience" often entails 'adventure' i.e., miserable weather, horrible roads, soggy pack-lunches and wet sleeping bags. But all with a positive attitude. This is the Ying/Yang, the Ke', the inner spirit, that makes people "Dodge People",but still its only part of the PW lifestyle. We should celebrate ALL rallies for their diverseness and variety. We're lucky to have them and should thank the people who put them together. If all this seems too much, then I guess one could sell one's PW and join the Rambler/Nash Club. That way the person could just park it at the Sonic Drive-In and not have to lockin any hubs... I appreciate and respect your comments and opinions... these are just a few of my thoughts on the matter... best regards to all....GT
