If you hook up a positive grounded vehicle backwards, the starter should turn backwards as well. Just a thought, check the fan and see if it rotates to "pull" air through the radiator as you begin to crank it. Otherwise, it might not start in reverse and you would do a lot of trouble shooting for no reason. (Maybe I'm out in space here, but I thought DC motors turned depending on the current flow direction +/-.) Regards WAW
