They only said elongate the holes, this for a 1/4 inch wouldn't have any effect on your tires rubbing in the wheel wells, unless you max out the load, put oversized tires on and drove over bumps, etc. The K.I.S.S. principle needs to be followed, a 1/4 inch will also allow the original wiring to be used. Your choice, sounds like some reasonable advice was presented. Good luck WAW
