I have two unique problems with my '49 B1PW. The first problem allowed me to purchase this truck for a very reasonable price. The truck would start and run well for about 1/4 mile, and then it would die and would not restart. I fianlly tracked this to a small hole rusted through the steel fuel line where it was routed through a frame support below the bed. A short piece of hose and two hose clamps fixed that problem. The second problem occurred at the Vintage Power Wagon Rally in 1992, when my truck again would quit after running for short distances. Thanks to Lyle Van Wert's help, we traced this problem to the rubber fuel hose at the inlet side of the fuel pump. Apparently a small flap of rubber inside the hose was acting like a check valve and was intermittently closing off the fuel to the engine. A new hose solved this problem. I have been driving this truck ever since with no more fuel problems. I hope this helps.
