I have been mentally modifing my orig. steering box to power steering by use of a unit that I discovered a few years back
called a "torque generator". There are several sizes, but the one I want to use is slightly smaller than a qt.can of oil.It can be
driven by a PS pump and has only two lines,in and out.The unit is
placed between the steering box and wheel. Torque applied from the steering wheel is multiplied in the unit to exert more torque
to the orig.steering box.The question I have put off so long is,
will the orig. steering box handle more torque ? It would be the same as if you were using a very large dia. steering wheel.Would there be excessive stress on the worm and sector using this unit?
I have wondered if remembering to cause slight motion before each turn would alleviate excessive stress? Anyone know the torque threshold for the B-60 steering box on a WM300 PW?
