Years ago.... maybe ages ago..... I picked up a surplus army stove.... one of those that could be run on diesel...fuel oil... or by changing the carburator system run on gasoline. The stove is the standard pressed steel that folds and collapses the two halves together to save space.
With this kit was a Gerry can screw on lid with a special fitting with a rubber hose that curved a complete 360 and was held by a neat little cast metal tab.... I take it that it was intended to catch the drips from the hose and make them fall below the tank and not drip down to the hot stove....
a very important feature if you are heating your canvass tent with gasoline...
Long story short.... never used the stove.... but it is my favorite fuel line/pump bypass when working on anything that burns gas including my current PW with no gas tank....
A search of Army surplus outlet should let you find this priceless artifac...
