Don't forget that the MU mounting is at a different angle in respect to the truck frame then the MU-2 plus the MU-3 is for a flat trame with no upward angle! I am not sure why Braden rated these winches so differently as they all use the SAME bronze gear and steel worm!! (Including the later LU-2, LU-4, and ALU2!)As well as the drum and worm shaft diameters are alike!! Only thing I have ever noticed was the MU's had a direct coupled driveline with a key and setscrew! The MU-2 on the PWs had either a 1/4" or 5/16" shearpin, although I have had several PW winches that were direct key and setscrew type with NO shearpin Especially ones equipped for en external rope capstan.(Like shown in the older Braden parts lists) So,
who knows!!!
