Information from all sides being what it is, I don't think it is possible to have a truly informed opinion about current events and politics on an national/international level...but you obviously seem to make a good effort Norm. I wish I could see it from your perspective.
If the efforts in Iraq, and elsewhere, designed to protect this country from terrorism, are funtioning on the level of our local law enforcement and airport security (straining at gnats and swallowing camels...to put it in biblical terms), I'd say we are in big trouble.
The war on drugs hasn't stopped drugs, it has just stuffed a lot of money into enforcement's pockets. The US is filled with meth and crank and coke etc. Forgive the cynical take on this, but I have no great hopes for the war on terrorism...from down here it looks like an excuse to spend a lot of money and crack down on those dirty "non-conformists," you know, those creepy types who wear camo hats and live in older houses and have a bunch of old trucks sitting around.. : )
