My first truck was a '71 D-200 Camper Special. I too love these Sweptlines. Here are some answers to your questions:

#1. Either your latch mechanism is wore out, the star wheel is worn, or your hinges are worn badly, or even your cab is acutally sagging. I have found on some of these Sweptlines, that it is a combination of all the above!

#2. Are you gonna make it a 4X4 or leave it a 2 wheel drive? If so, both mods are pretty much bolt in! If you go 2 wheel drive, just get the appropriate ratio Dana 60 8 lug rear from any 61-71 truck and put in it, for front, unbolt your 1/2 I beam and bolt in the I beam with spindles, hubs, and drums from a 61-71 3/4 ton. There ya go. Oh yea, you may wanna beef up your springs too. If you go 4X4, thats pretty much bolt in too...but alot more parts to find and bolt in LOL!

#3. Just find a utility box from a longbed truck and there you have it...

#4. If memory serves me right, the Chiltons book on these trucks covers 67-88, so you'd need a book on the 64.... I'd look for a 1964 Factory service manual. Sometimes you can find em as cheap as $20, but expect to spend around $45. It is well worth it, as a matter of fact, I may have one to spare.....

#5. Vintage Power Wagons, NAPA, AutoValue, CarQuest.

#6. VPW? Ebay, boneyards.....

#7. See #5

#8. Various venders on Ebay, VPW....

Good luck! Enjoy your Sweptline. I LOVE EM!
