I have my 230 engine for my M37 broken down and I need to remove the pistons which are stuck. There is surface rust on the bottom end of the cylinders. It looks like this engine was sleved when it was rebuilt by the Army.

Does it make a difference if I drive the pistons out from the bottom rather then up through the top? Some of the pistons are at the bottom of there stroke and would be easier that way.

Also I was reading of people using a slide hammer connected to the connecting rods to get a piston out. Anyone done that before.

I have had the pistons soaking in Kroil for over a month and cleaned that out and then tried soaking in Coke for a couple days.

Thanks,
Rick
