1961 civilion power wagon

What 6 cylinder should be in a 1961 NON-Flat fender power wagon, a slant 6? Would a 4 speed transmission be the same as a NP420 out of a FF power wagon? Thanks for the imformation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Doug Boeve
