Watch eBAY. Texas plates are relatively easy to get. I picked up a couple of sets for $10 ea. The key is patience. Put a watch w email notification on what you really want then sit back.
I'd go for "Texas Farm Truck". IIRC they were singles back then (rear plate only).
Sorry; don't have your 1950 plate.
Now New Mexico is a *lot* harder for the early plates - a lot fewer people and old plates were used to patch holes in roofs.
