OK.. One more time.. Ballast resistor questions!

What is the position of the ballast resistor in the trucks wiring diagram.?

Does it go inline between the positive side of the coil and the distributor?

Also, what resistance rating of ballast resister do y'all use?

I ask because I already bought a new 12 Volt coil, no sense and letting it go to waste. SO I guess Ill just get another
ballast resistor and solder in line once again.

But, I forgot where I did that on my last truck!!

Oh, one more thing.. What if you DIDNT use a ballast resistor inline when converting to a
Pertronix ingnition? What would happen?
I dont think my jeep has a ballast resistor
with its pertronix conversion????

And I have been running this for a year now?
I am sure there must be something bad about not having the resistor.
