Trailer Brakes

Has anyone ever added trailer brakes to a trailer. Noticed the farm store had an entire new axle with brake drums on each end for 100$. Have shopped on the internet and found some brake drum/hub assembly's for sale. Appears like they can be bolted right on the trailer and then take care of the wiring. Anyone have luck with this way? Seems to good to be true. Any pitfalls?
