Hi Joe,
Propane is VERY common in CA, most gas company fleet trucks and many private companies use it to receive immission credits from the government for reducing pollution. Propane runs cleaner, but produces a little less power, mileage is about the same, some better some worse, depending upon driving style, George could find plenty of places in the Western US. All RV's have propane heating and cooking systems so there are propane dealers everywhere.
