318 timing/vacuum help

I'm installing a Edelbrock Preformer Carburetor and I need to know if the distributor needs no vacuum at idle (timed)or vacuuum at idle (full). I already changed out the manifold before I got the carb so I don't want to back and test. Anyone know?
