Hey all... I see some similarities in many of you in me....I live in Panama City Beach, Florida. Moved here in 88 from my home state
of Connecticut. I was born a yankee but I am now a quasi red neck, living in the area they call the red neck riviera. Between my friend Joel and I we have most of the pw's within 50 miles. Right now I have a wc54,
wm300, 2 half tons, and Joel has a b3pw,
a wm300, a wc51 and wc52. Out of all those
trucks only my wm300 fire truck is currently
registerd and driveable on the road. The rest are parts trucks to long term restorations. We both live in developements so the trucks are stuffed wherever. There are
not many pw's down here. Many more in Connecticut and the north east. Anyway, I am
in the Computer field service repair field.
Started in this field 21 years ago. I started with Digital Equipment Corp ( dec ),
up in Connecticut. Moved to FLA with dec in
88 to get out of the snow and cold. Also
taxes are much less here. Wages are less also, if you get hired on locally with any company. I am fortunate in that respect.
Anyway, dec merged with Compaq 4 years ago,
so I worked on dec and Compaq gear. Now, last summer, Compaq was gobbled up by HP,
so now I work for HP...I need this to last....HP seems to be a good company, but I had no complaints about Compaq or DEC. In fact, Digital (dec), in the robust days of the 80's and early 90's was a great company to work for. Most of the industry was booming. All that has changed...I have a
wife of 21 years, and 3 great kids, 2 daughters age 15 and 13, and my little boy, who is 8. He really likes swap meets and Power Wagon rallies. He always went with me to the southern pw rally in Thompson, Ga,
and the Samson, AL MVPA show, and he's been to the MVPA national convention with me in
Tobyhanna, Pa. a few years back. June 2004 we will be at the MVPA national convention in Mobile, Alabama. I have also been a volunteer firemen for 29 years, averaging at least 100 calls a year. Sorry for Ramblin...as they say in the south,
" nuff said ". Bob
