I would guess the front shaft works, but one of the U-joints is missing, I guess that it was removed to prevent the front shaft from turning, as this truck was used for the boom only in it's later life.

The shaft sticking out the passenger side was either for some peice of equipment I don't understand, or as one person told me, it is for a hand crank.

I am not sure which one it is.

Either way you are right, it is a COOL truck!
