that the actual Helo cost was $9800.00 for this job. Nice figure for the FS to toss out at people.
Up here the Adirondack Mountain Club has land (Johns Brook Lodge, Camp Peggy Obrian and Grace Camp) in the back country that is landlocked by Wild Forever Land (no motor vehicles ever). Each year they fly quite a few Helo runs in taking out 55 gallon drums of sewage, flying in 100 pound LP tanks and other heavy stuff. They could never afford those kind of Helo costs, its all run by membership dues, which are cheap.
Everything else food etc is backpacked in. They claim its a very cost efficient way to move the sewage and LP tanks. I believe it.
