I live in a quiet rural suburb. Yesterday someone came up my street and cleaned out my ditch. They left the road at a slight curve and went into the small ditch. Just missed a telephone pole and a tree that was slightly bigger than the pole. Then they hit a good bump which took care of the front end alignment and continued on and sideswiped a small tree with their passenger side. Then continued on into another ditch/dry stream bed and plowed through the far side with their front bumper. Then then continued on going over more 3" trees and shrubs and back into the ditch where I had built a rock wall at the culvert going under my drive way (ouch). The gravel driveway as torn up either by them getting out of the ditch or someone pulling them out. I am not sure how they did not take out the oil pan or tranny as there were several headsize and larger rocks knocked out of the rock wall and run over. No oil or anything. But both pans are very clean with all the brush trees they went through. Their track was over 150 feet and no sign of any attempt to stop or steer out of it. At one point they were more than 20 feet off the road and had trees between them and the road.

Obviously no note on the door or anything. I would really liked to have been a fly on the wall when he was telling dad what happened to the car. Cops figure that they will have him in a day or two. All they need to do is listen in the schools as someone will shoot off their mouth. Also the front end shops and body shops are being notified. There is no way that they could have not suffered significant damage to the vehicle. Nobody saw it best we can tell. By the way this is considered hit and run by the cops since they dammaged property and did not stop or leave a note. The cop figures that I will have a small work party to fix the damage later this month. Kind of looks like they might reduce charges if they take care of their mess.

Maybe I can get them charged with the same law that John E. is charged with. They did tear up the environment. Not federal land but they went through a stream that feeds a major endangered salmon stream.
