Just went through the whole thermostat thing with my '58 W200 turns out someone had taken out my thermostat.(lots of farm fixes by the telephone co. who used to own it. it even had two different sized heater hoses on it one was completely bulged out around the clamps) i thought my heater core was plugged because the heater would just barely get warm, but the engine ran fine and warmed up. well, about a week ago i replaced the thermostat(under 5 bucks at NAPA w/gasket) and my top rad. hose starts shooting a stream of antifreeze. replaced all the rad. hoses. fill up, then i blow a freeze plug! go down and get the correct freeze plug. ask NAPA the correct way to install the disc type. contrary to what i think is the right way i install it their way. This time the freeze plug blows while i'm under the truck, RIGHT IN MY DAMN FACE! i wanted to kill NAPAhot antifreeze in the face and eyes doesn't tickle. so after washing the antifreeze out of my eyes and making sure i still have skin on my face i try it again MY WAY. FINALLY it holds, and the heater is now finally warming up. the truck runs better too. now i just need a better radiator(this one leaks a little at the top tank.) good luck! Jason
