I first fired up the red M-37 after I got it home from Wyoming..it ran fine..I took it out for a road test and after a few miles at high RPM it was boiling over! So I went to the shop..removed the T-stat housing and guess what...NO T-stat! Installed a fresh 160 and she ran great there after!! Another source of overheat is a lower radiator hose collapsing under high RPM..especially on the 1960-70s dodge V-8s that used a molded curve lower hose..the coil of wire inside rusts out then the suction through the radiator will cause
the hose to partially collaps when at high RPM, it will expand at idle..thus the temp will be OK at idle, but will climb when running fast!!
