4wd/2wd 727 Question

I’ve got an M880 with a transmission going south. I recently acquired a 2WD ľ ton with a 727b that is suppose to be a recent rebuild. Before I start taking things apart, is there a fundamental difference between the 2WD application and 4WD application? If I have to take them both apart to any serious degree I may opt for a rebuild of the tranny currently in the M880. Thanks
